You hear and feel the power of water and the rotating movement of the wheel gives an insight to what happens.
A water wheel makes people aware of the power of water. The primal force of running water, from which we obtain energy, is fascinating for both young and old. Children become enthusiastic and inquisitive from the movement, noise and magic of the illuminated lamp which shines because of the rotating wheel. The elderly who have worked in the industrial and manufacturing sector, recognize the mechanical engineering, and are thrilled that such heritage is returning to public space and is once again functional.
In a museum or educational environment hydro-electricity installations have many options for studies and learning. How far can an electric car drive powered by a water mill? Can you make tea or cook an egg with hydropower? Can you charge your tablet or telephone with a water mill? All these questions can be made comprehensible.
For example: a Tesla Model S uses 200-250 Wh per km. With the annual energy yield of an average installation of 7 kW you can drive between 200.000 and 250.000 km. That is 5 or 6 times around the earth. Annually!
Using the same installation you can cook a cup of water in 10 seconds. Every rotation you can cook another cup.
You can also supply between 15 and 20 households with electricity.
